Landfill Gas Plant

BACKGROUND:
ERMU owns and operates the landfill gas electric generation plant in partnership with Sherburne
County, and Waste Management. ERMU staff is evaluating plant operations in preparation for
the transition to a new wholesale power supplier in October 2018.
DISCUSSION:
Currently ERMU is working with Great River Energy(GRE) staff, and other stakeholders on
transition options for the landfill gas electric generation plant. GRE has expressed concern about
the existing Purchased Power Agreement(PPA) for the delivery of the plants electric production
to GRE's system. ERMU is currently reviewing the contract and other options for the facility
with the existing partners, other potential partners, and legal counsel.
