Athletic Complexes
Installation of the concrete slabs for the new dugouts at the Youth Athletic Complex and Oak Knoll is
complete. The dugout kits are scheduled to arrive the week of October 16,2017 and installation of the
dugout kits will begin the following week. The priority for installation of the kits is YAC to allow time
for the concrete contractor to install the stone wall;however installation will be dependent on the
weather and may need to be installed in the spring.
Trail Projects
All trail construction projects are complete for 2017. In addition to the planned trail projects, staff has
been busy patching and repairing the existing trails. Numerous trail segments had small potholes,
broken edges, and sunken areas as a result of gopher tunnels under the trails.
Picnic Tables
New picnic tables were purchased for the two smaller shelters at Orono Park. The new tables are
square in shape and allow for better use of the space within the shelters. The existing tables were
distributed to other parks throughout the city to replace the old homemade picnic tables which are no
longer serviceable.
Dave Anderson Athletic Complex Irrigation
Installation of the new irrigation system at the Dave Anderson Athletic Complex will begin around
October 23,2017. All work within the playing surfaces will be completed this fall pending weather
conditions;however it is likely the needed upgrades to the existing wells will carry over into the spring.
The work on the wells in the spring should not impact the playing fields;however there will be impacts
to fall adult softball as they are scheduled to play on the fields through October 31.
