RE: COUNTY ROAD 1 SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION
Dear Mr. Schwarting:
As you proceed with the design of the~lgl1l:11~vstems for the intersection ofCo.untYJRoad"ii10'andew~wJj
~Ch01:lT~Sfreet and m.OJlmY~~9c~(.t1;~1~nd!~QtJIltY0Ro'aa)'17 the City of Elk River would make two
requests.
1. Both signal systems be equipped with emergency vehicle preemption systems. In 1998 the
City of Elk River equipped all of the existing signals in the City with this technology and
would request that all future signals include it also.
2. If the City of Elk River is going to be asked to take on the responsibility for maintaining the
signals relative to lamping, we would request that the signals be equipped with LED lights
throughout. This was also done to all of the existing signals in the City of Elk River in 1998.
One final thought, we believe that it would be in the best interests of everyone if both of these
signals were tmand";op~rCitiQ!JC3.I:;;Q~foI~~thei;start,otthe20QQ12001:;schooI~year. We believe this
is an achievable goal and we would request that your schedule reflect this.
If you have any questions and of this please call.
Sincerely,
Howard R. Green Company
