SUBJECT: Boys and Girls Club Update
Councilmember Thompson is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Elk
River Boys and Girls Club. Councilmember Motin is also on the Board of
Directors. At this City Council meeting, Councilmember Thompson and/or
Motin should be able to provide everyone with an update on the status of
activities at the Boys and Girls Club.

The Boys and Girls Club is now open for business and its membership is
increasing almost daily. An open house is scheduled for mid December and
the Chamber of Commerce is having its annual holiday luncheon meeting on
December 21, 1999, at the Boys and Girls Club.
The Boys and Girls Club and new facility has been a remarkable success
story. The volunteer effort of a number of our citizens and the Lions Club
and the generous donations of many over the last two years has resulted in
the completion of the new facility. The city is proud to have this facility in its
city park and I think everyone believes that this centralized location is
perfect for the club.
