Background/Discussion
The EDA established a Beautification Committee in December of 2016. The Committee has five
members; Chairperson Tamara Ackerman, DJ Bakken, Ryan Hardin, Rhonda Magnussen, and Ann
McCormick, who meet on a monthly basis from May to October.
The Committee reviewed over 14 applications over the five-month period and would like to recognize
and congratulate the following businesses for:
Making substantial improvements to the exterior of their buildings and/or landscape in the last
year

o Spikes Feed, Seed & Pet Supply
o Ralphie’s Minnoco
o Heritage Construction Companies, LLC

The City Beautification Award
The City Beautification award serves to recognize those business owners, who have made an effort to clean,
repair, improve and enhance the overall aesthetics of their property to maintain the beauty of their
neighborhood and surroundings.
It is presented to encourage community improvements, enhance our city’s visual image and economic vitality.
From May through October, one winner from each category will be chosen each month. Business owners
would receive public recognition and an award for making the city of Elk River beautiful!
Businesses can be nominated for this award by others within the community or they may nominate themselves
(self-nomination is encouraged!).
