SR 11-06-2017 Request for Action To Item Number Mayor and City Council 4.11 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by ConsentNovember 6, 2017Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director Item Description Reviewed by Acknowledge Donations for Bailey Point Nature Cal Portner, City Administrator Preserve Reviewed by Action Requested Adopt, by motion, the attached resolution acknowledging $6,000 in donations to the Parks and Recreation Department from donors to be used for Bailey Point Nature Preserve Prairie Restoration. Background/Discussion From May to September 2017, the Parks and Recreation Department received 14 donations from members and friends of the Bailey family with the intention they be used for prairie restoration at Bailey Point Nature Preserve. th The restoration work was part of the 100 year celebration Cretex held at Bailey Point Nature Preserve on June 24, 2017. The festivities included a picnic lunch for the Bailey family and the planting of prairie grasses. Staff sent thank you letters to the individual donors for their contributions. Financial Impact The $6,000 in donations paid for the full reimbursement to Cretex for prairie restoration plant materials. Attachments  Resolution acknowledging donations  Exhibit A spreadsheet detailing the donations, including the donor and amount The Elk River Vision A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity Councilmember _______________ introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: City of Elk River City Council Resolution 17-____ A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Acknowledging Contributions WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and individuals for their contributions to the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a $6,000 total donations from Exhibit A with the intent it be used by Parks and Recreation Department for Bailey Point Nature Preserve Prairie Restoration. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council, by at least four-fifths vote, to acknowledge the support and commend Donors outlined in Exhibit A for their donation. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember ______________, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following against: , whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
