08-18-1948 TBM ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING August 18, 1948 The town board of the twps. of Elk River met with the board of the twps of Burns at the Kastendick corner at 8:30 A.M. Archie Johnson estimated the cost of building road between $1250.00 and $1500.00 including culverts. Those present were\[: for\] Elk River\[,\] Oscar Engstrom & Everett Rathbun\[;\] for Burns\[,\] Lester Rootes, Charley Johnson, S.T. Wirz, Joe Sundeen. The price seemed agreeable to both townships. Oscar Engstrom was elected chairman of the day. It was put in the form of a motion by Charley Johnson that Rootes and Johnson be allowed to do the job. Seconded by Wirz. A motion was made by Joe Sundeen and seconded by S. Wirz that Elk River and Burns townships each share cost equally. The graveling was left until the road was completed to see how the funds hold out. It was left up to Archie Johnson to get necessary culverts. The job was to be done on the hourly basis. $8.50 for cat and dozer $10.00 for cat and scraper $8.50 for cat and flare \[No note re: adjournment.\] E. Rathbun Clerk.
