07-29-1992 CC MIN - SPECIAL . . . SPECIAL MEETING OF ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 1992 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Tralle, Councilmember Schuldt, Holmgren, Kropuenske, and Dietz MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Patrick Klaers, City Administrator; and Lori Johnson, Finance Director Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Elk River City Council was called to order 5:00 p.m. by Mayor Tralle. Lori Johnson explained that the City had requested quotes for group health insurance following notification of a rate increase from Medica for the August 1, 1992, renewal. Quotes had been received through 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29. Seven quotes were received; of those, five of the quotes did not match existing benefits, several did not cover doctors in the Elk River area and several required underwriting. Medica and Group Health were the two quotes received which matched current benefits. The Medica renewal rate for single was $171.05, and $521,81 for family. The Group Health rates for single was $144.16, and $446.31 for family. The Council discussed the options available and the employer and employee payments for health insurance. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED THAT GROUP HEALTH BE AWARDED THE QUOTE FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE AFFECTIVE AUGUST 1 AT THE SMOKE FREE COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. HEALTH RATES. There was discussion on sale of the City Hall property and the progress in selling the property to UPA. There being no further business, COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADJOURN THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
