SR 12-18-2017 E04y1� ,.,�� Request for Action River To Item Number Mayor And Council 6.2 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Presentations,Awards, December 18, 2017 Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director & Recognition Item Description Reviewed by Award Recognition: '2017 Land Manager of the Cal Portner, City Administrator Year' Reviewed by Action Requested Mayor to receive `Land Manager of the Year' award from Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) Executive Director Matt Andrews Background/Discussion In April of 2016, the City Council reviewed staff and Parks and Recreation Commission recommendations for a Hillside Park plan that included collaboration efforts with MORC. Council also provided direction and approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the city and MORC. Since 2016, staff has been working consistently with MORC and their volunteers to make improvements to the park's mountain bike trails. MORC currently partners with 12 land-managing agencies and annually reviews and evaluates their partnerships to determine if any have gone above and beyond to support trails in their community.
