Provide direction on option for retail space in the Ice Arena.
Background/Discussion
Nearing the end of the schematic design phase of the project,we want to engage in a discussion about
possible retail space. The concept reviewed by the City Council on December 18, 2017,identified future
expansion areas intended for potential retail opportunities or other uses the community might desire.
A medical services provider indicated interest in space within the facility. With early interest in this space and
the likely the most competitive construction cost for this space being included up front,the design team is
looking for Council direction for the final design. The area of interest is shown here:

Financial Impact
Design and construction of 2,255 SF of expansion space (building shell only) is estimated at$150,000.
Expected buildouts would be at the cost of the tenant. Market rate a retail space like is $15-16/sf.
