Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the purchase of a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe for $35,417.33 with further authorization
to set-up and equip the vehicle with a total cost not to exceed $53,000.
Background/Discussion
The Fire Department's on-call duty officer currently uses a 2005 Ford Expedition. The Expedition has
over 110,000 miles,has considerable rust on the body and undercarriage, and is consistently burning oil.
The Expedition was previously assigned to the fire chief and was rotated into the duty officer assignment
to maximize the vehicle's use.
The new Tahoe will be assigned to the Deputy Chief; the Deputy Chief's current Tahoe will be rotated
into the duty officer position.
The requested approval includes:
■ 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe (state contract): $35,417.33
■ Graphics and lettering: $2,150
■ Emergency vehicle equipment and up-fitting: $8,000
■ Command cabinet: $3,305
■ Computer and technology: $3,500 (including tablet,mount, and hotspot)
Financial Impact
$54,000 has been budgeted in the 2018 Equipment Replacement Fund and approved in the 2018 budget.
