LIBSR 01-23-2018Library Zones Report Elk River Public Library Board The Library Board serves in an advisory capacity to City of Elk River for issues related to the Elk River Public Library grounds, the physical building and interior fixtures. The city is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all work to be completed. Updated: 1/15/18 Zone Assigned To Specifics Zone Issues Zone 1 Mary K. Entrance; butterfly garden; windmill, prairie grass; rain garden in parking lot, planter boxes for Master Gardeners summer gardening program Zone 2 Willie Front door, front garden, concrete pathways, patio, flag turnaround  Patio furniture stored for the winter? Library staff to send work order to bldg. mtnc to store furniture.(10/4/17) Zone 3 Mary E. Rain garden, book drop turnaround, employee parking lot; being a good neighbor Zone 4 Mick Being a good neighbor, grass & rock areas Zone 5 Rita Rain garden, interior and exterior building maintenance, interior furniture and shelving  Hand dryers in bathrooms need more forceful air &/or paper towel dispensers. City staff will contact Bldg Mtnc for possible solutions (10/4/17).  DVD collection is on standard shelving. A block is needed to prevent DVD’s from slipping to the back and falling behind the shelved items. Rita will check with Friends group for solution (10/4/17). IMPROVEMENTS IN PROCESS 1. Kiosk and signage (Rae Ann Gardner). Garden signage is installed; kiosk proof was approved by Board, pending it’s completion and installation (9/6/17) FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS High Priority 1. Permanent patio furniture 2. LED lighting in parking lot Under Consideration/Exploration 1. Sit/stand desks 2. More comfortable chairs in kids area 3. Modify the slatted room dividers by the Info Desk and the Teen area as display areas for collections, services and programs 4. Lounging space vs. table & uncomfortable chairs in teen area 5. Urinals in some or all of the unisex bathrooms 6. Handicap curbing closer to the building (in the drop off area) 5.4
