Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the hiring of Matthew Bonebrake as Street Maintenance Operator II effective
February 12, 2018.
Background/Discussion
To provide consistent oversight and increased efficiencies with shared resources, following the
retirements of a Street Maintenance Operator II and our Street Superintendent, City Administrator
Portner moved the Street and Equipment Services divisions under the supervision of Park Maintenance
Superintendent Tim Sevcik. The vacancies created by the retirements are being filled by hiring two Street
Maintenance II Operators.
We received 40 applications for the vacancies and interviewed seven candidates. We recommend hiring
Matthew Bonebrake for one of these vacant positions.
Mr. Bonebrake served as a heavy equipment operator for the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years.
Since his discharge,he has worked as an engine machinist on race cars, a mechanic and back up driver for
Greenscape Companies, and most recently as a welding equipment repair tech at Oxygen Service
Company.
This position is part of the IUOE Local 49 union and pay and benefits will follow union contract and city
Policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
