Background/Discussion Elk River Municipal Utilities (ERMU) commissioned FleetCarma to conduct an Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment during 2017. Their software tracked data from current vehicles in the ERMU and city fleets to determine potential options for electric or hybrid vehicles. Twenty vehicles were monitored for daily utilization, fuel economy, idling time, and potential savings if they were replaced with hybrid or electric alternatives. The report includes total cost of savings, emissions reductions, and fuel reductions. Staff is requesting Council direction to lease a hybrid vehicle in 2018 and consider purchasing a full electric vehicle in 2019. Financial Impact None, the hybrid lease for 2018 was budgeted for in the Equipment Replacement fund.
