Direct,by motion, staff to proceed with Park Improvement Projects.
Background/Discussion
At the February 14, 2018, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, staff recommended the three
projects approved in the Park Improvement Fund be paused until City Council provides direction to
proceed. The City Council agreed to pause work on design and development of ice arena improvements
on February 5, 2018, to consider a single multipurpose civic center. The Council met in a special meeting
on February 8 to confirm multipurpose facility direction;however, did not discuss possible location for
such facility. To maintain location options,pending Council's direction, staff felt it was the in the city's
best interest to minimize investments in potential location options. The brief pause should have no
impact on 2018 timing of project completion.
The Community Center Feasibility Study adopted by City Council on July 18, 2016,recommended the
Dave Anderson Athletic Complex and the Oak Knoll Athletic Complex as potential sites.
The three projects include the following:
■ Dave Anderson Athletic Complex scoreboards for$40,000
■ Dave Anderson Athletic Complex irrigation for$120,000, of which $23,415 has already been
spent to purchase materials
■ Oak Knoll athletic field lighting and scoreboard for$125,000
The Commission recommended proceeding with these projects if the City Council concurs. The Oak
Knoll athletic field lighting and scoreboard project is later on this agenda.
Financial Impact
The three projects are currently in the 2018 Park Improvement Fund.
