11-08-1990 CC MIN e e e MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER BOARD OF CANVASS HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1990 Members Present: Vice Mayor Schuldt, Councilmembers Holmgren, Dobel and Kropuenske Members Absent: Mayor Tralle Also Present: Pat Klaers, City Administrator 1. CallMeetin~ To Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Board of Canvass was called to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. Consider 11/8/90 Board of Canvass A~enda COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE 11/8/90 BOARD OF CANVASS AGENDA. COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 3. Canvass Municipal General Election Resylts The City Council, serving as the Board of Canvass, November 6, 1990, municipal General Election results. are outlined in Resolution 90-61. reviewed the These results The Board of Canvass discussed future redistricting of the City after the final census data becomes available. The City needs to redistrict for voting purposes due to the substantial population growth the community has experienced. Discussion also took place regarding additional polling places and the possibility of City election Wards being further divided into precincts. This further subdivision of the Wards would allow for less waiting at the polling places during elections. The City Council commented on how smoothly the election went when considering the changes in the Governor's race. The Council congratulated the City Clerk, Sandy Thackeray, on her good work in managing the election. The 1990 municipal General Election results showed that Mayor Tralle was reelected; Councilmember Holmgren was reelected; and John Dietz defeated Peter Kimball for the Ward 1 Councilmember position. COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL MOVED TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 90-61, A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE 11/6/90 MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION.
