Consider Election Results of 2/14/89 Referendum
The City Administrator informed the City Council that the results of the
Special Election Referendum held on February 14. 1989. for the public to
consider the purchase of an aerial platform ladder truck in an amount not
to exceed $475.000. was approved by a large majority. There were 467
"yes" votes and 70 "no" votes from the public on this issue.

COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 89-13, A RESOLUTION
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON FEBRUARY 14. 1989,
FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN AERIAL PLATFORM LADDER TRUCK. . COUNCIL MEMBER DOBEt
SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0.
The City Council expressed its congratulations to the Fire Department and
to the Fire Chief. Russ Anderson. for a job well done in promoting and
publicizing the need for this aerial platform ladder truck and
encouraging the public to vote in support of this issue. The City
Council also expressed its appreciation to Deputy City Clerk. Sandy
Thackeray. for the excellent job she did on coordinating and managing the
Special Referendum Election.
4. Other Business
The City Administrator discussed with the City Council the possibility of
having a regularly scheduled Economic Development Authority (EDA) meeting
once a month in order to keep the EDA advised as to current economic
development issues. It was noted that the City Council has attempted to
have its second Monday of each month free of any meetings and that. if
needed. this second Monday of each month may be able to be designated as
the monthly EDA meeting date. It is anticipated that EDA meetings will
be held on the second Monday of April. May and June in order for the EDA
to get committee updates on the status of various work projects and to
review economic development activities in general.
