Approve,by motion,hiring Paul Melin for the position of IT Support Assistant effective March 20, 2018.
Background/Discussion
The IT Support Assistant position became vacant when Jake Walz was promoted to IT Specialist. We
went to market to recruit for this position and received 31 applications. Following interviews with six
candidates and required background and reference checks,we recommend Paul Melin for this position.
Mr. Melin has been working at Dedicated Networks for the past three years,the last two as a Network
Hardware Technician. He holds two Associate of Science Degrees; one in Computer Science and the
other in Commuter Networking and Telecom and is CCNA Cisco Certified.
Mr. Melin will start at step A of pay grade 3. He will be eligible for a step increase following successful
completion of orientation. All other pay and benefits are consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
