SUBJECT: Presentation of Preliminary Concept Design for Rivers Edge
Commons
Introduction
In February 2005, the Parks and Recreation Commission voted to recommend the concept
design for River's Edge Commons, also known as the downtown green space. Key elements
of this plan are:
. Closing the ally that runs through the park
. An amphitheatre overlooking the river
. A gazebo
. Historic interpretation of Elk Rivers past
. A street level plaza
. A stone staircase leading to the waters edge
Planner Chris Leeseberg will present the plan. If the Council approves the concept design,
staff will move forward with cost estimates and preliminary engineering. The 2005 Parks
Capital Improvement budget includes $40,000 for design and engineering for this project.
Action Requested
Authorize approval of concept design for Rivers Edge Commons.
