Consider the Elk Park Center Meeting Discussion began concerning the Elk Park Center publzc hearing which was held the previous week to see if more information will be needed on issues raised by the public +or the next meetinq. Chairman Bob Minton made it clear that the discussion at this meetinq was to be concerned only with the process, and not the substance of the issues. The fol1owznq issues were identified: proximity to schools, traffic congestion, crime, siqna9e, storm water and draznage, trees~ the cost of external improvements and who pays +or them, and the difference between tax income and tax expenses for this project. Bob Minton said he asked to staff to develop some information regarding accident rates along School St. and Jackson as compared to other parts of the city, and the amount of crime and police calls at the current mall and the time of day that they occur. The staff memos contain a great deal of information about most of the other issues. It was commented that more attention should be given to the Park and Recreation Commission recommendations. We • will ask the staff to address these issues In the next memos. It was also pointed out that the proposed traffic improvements should be included on the site plan~ The commissioners will also have some questions about the pond 411 and trees along the school property. Bob Minton asked Mary Eberle to attend a staff meeting on this prooect on the next morning, June 16. at 9 a.m. 2. Consider the 1994 Budget for Training.
