SUBJECT: FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPAC
STATEMENT ON GRAVEL MINING
Included with this memo is the proposed final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on
mineral excavation. The final EIS is basically made up of the following components:
Front
A summary of each of the sections in the draft Environmental Impact Statement .
• Middle Section
The City's responses to the comments received on the draft (both verbal and written).
The comment is in bold type and the response by the City follows.
Final Section
The results of a pumping test that was done to verify the assumptions made on what
impacts gravel washing operations would have on the aquifer.
The comment period for the final EIS ends on June 20, 1994. On that date the City
Council will be acting on whether or not to declare the EIS adequate. The Planning
Commission can make comments on the final EIS if they wish. The final EIS should be
added to the same three ring binder that contains the draft EIS, and the old cardboard
insert on the cover should be exchanged with the new one attached to the final EIS. Keep
in mind, that the final EIS and the draft EIS go together as one complete document. If
