Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the hiring of Thomas Poser for the position of Park Maintenance Worker effective
April 30, 2018.
Background/Discussion
In January we went to market to fill a vacant Park Maintenance Operator position. We received 98
applications and interviewed seven candidates. Following second interviews with two candidates,we
recommend Thomas Poser for the position.
Although currently working as a Probation Agent,Mr. Poser worked for the Department of Natural
Resources as a Building and Grounds Worker/Park Ranger at Charles Lindbergh,Temperance River, and
Tettegouche State Parks for four and a half years. While his degree and recent work history are in the
criminal justice field,Mr. Poser desires to get back into the parks line of work.
This position is part of the IUOE Local 49 union and pay and benefits will follow union contract and city
Policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
