Dear Commissioners,
Re: Case No. P-96-10
We moved to Islandview Drive in 1985. We chose this area because of the dead end
street. We thought this would be a quiet neighborhood to raise children in. We are
strongly opposed to the road connecting to any street.
Islandview drive is a sought after neighborhood to live in because of the dead end
and the road being safe for bikers, walkers,joggers, rollerbladers, strollers, etc. There are
• people from other neighborhoods who use our street for this purpose. Any more added
traffic would greatly jeopardize the safety of pedestrians on this street.
We ask you please do not allow a street to connect Islandview Dr to Belgian
Acres. We are not opposed to extending the culd-a-sac as long as the street does not go
through. We feel a thru street only gives criminals another way out.
Lets not in the name of progress force an unwanted street connecting two
neighborhood who are happy the way they are.

Dear Commissioners,
Re: Case No. P-96-10, September 24, 1996 meeting
We have lived on Island View Drive since 1987. One of the reasons we chose to live
here was it has the security of being a dead-end street. We oppose any effort to
change this.
There is a wide variety and large amount of pedestrian traffic on Island View Drive.
Some of them are walkers, joggers and runners, roller bladers (with and with out
leashed dogs), skate boarders, bikers, trikers and skaters. Many are pushing strollers,
IP walking with young walkers or helping beginning bikers. Pedestrians and bikers come
from other neighborhoods to use our street.
We have quite a bit of traffic on our street at this time and feel that any added traffic
would greatly affect the safety of our pedestrians since this is a narrow street. We ask
you please do not allow a street to connect Island View Drive and Belgin Acres. We
are not opposed to the development of the vacant land. We do not want our street that
is not designed for it to become a collector for another neighborhood.
A neighborhood park in this area would not be used by the neighborhood because our
lots are of such a size that we do things on our own land. An unused park can lead to
vandalism, mischief and even illegal activities. We feel if the park were used, it would
be used by those outside our neighborhood and further increase our traffic.
We sincerely hope you will not force an unwanted connection on residents on each
side of it and those who are developing the land.

Dear Members of the Planning Committee,
Regarding the Island View issue on the agenda of August 27,
1996, I appreciate the opportunity to voice my concerns.
To clarify, we are not trying to have our road widened or
improved. We just don't want any more traffic on our road
for safety reasons. Another reason is the lower crime because
of only one outlet on our road.
We're happy with what we have right now anddon't wish to
see changes that would cause negative feelings about the
area. Thank you for your concerns.
