• The business will be owned and operated by the applicant. She has indicated
there will be no other employees and there will be one chair. Services to be
provided include hair and nail styling, and the sale of beauty products. The
proposed hours of operation would be by appointment only between 9:00 am
to 9:00pm Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday. The
proposed business complies with the zoning code regarding hours of operation
and number of employees.
The applicant is proposing to utilize the existing driveway for parking. There
is room for two clients to park in the driveway. Given that there will only be
one chair and clients would come by appointment only, parking should not be
a problem.
Signage shall not exceed 2 square feet and the sign has to be mounted flat on
the outside wall of the homes.
Recommendation
It is recommended the Planning Commission recommend approval of Ms.
Gessner's request for a conditional use permit to operate a hair salon from
her home with the following conditions:
• 1. Hours of operation not exceed 7:00am to 10:00 pm.
2. No exterior storage or display be allowed.
3. Signage be limited to 2 square feet and mounted flat on the wall of the
home.
4. A maximum of one full time employee or equivalent, other than persons
who customarily reside at the residence, shall be employed.
5. The applicant work with the building inspector to ensure that all
applicable building codes are met.
6. All parking shall be accommodated on site, on the existing driveway.
