Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Kaylin Clement to the position of Senior Communications
Coordinator effective May 29, 2018.
Background/Discussion
The 2018 budget includes the new position of Senior Communications Coordinator. We went to market
to fill this position and received 33 applications. Initial interviews were conducted with seven candidates
and four were invited back for a second interview. Following second interviews, reference, and
background checks, we recommend Kaylin Clement for the position.
Ms. Clement holds a degree in Communications from St. Cloud State University. Following school she
worked for the City of Bloomington as a Communications Specialist for four years while at the same time
worked for FOX Sports North as an On-Air Host and Marketing Assistant. Ms. Clement covered Elk
River’s Hockey Day Minnesota for FOX Sports North. Most recently Ms. Clement has been working as a
Communications Specialist for the Town of Flower Mound in Texas. Desiring to be closer to family,
Kaylin and her family are moving back to Minnesota this month.
Ms. Clement will start at step A of pay grade 8. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
