I, Mark Pederson, Planning Commission Chair, hereby request a
mobile workshop meeting of the Planning Commission Saturday, June 9,
2001, departing from the Elk River City Hall at 9:00 a.m..
The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a mobile workshop to tour
townhome developments and business parks in surrounding communities.
In accordance with State Statute, I hereby request the city clerk to post this
II/ notice at least three days prior to the meeting date. I further request the city
clerk to notify each member of the Planning Commission of this special
meeting, in writing, at least one day before the meeting.

SUBJECT: Saturday, June 9th Mobile Workshop
Attached please find a map for the Saturday,June 9 mobile workshop. We will be leaving at
9:00 a.m. in the city van for the tour. We will be viewing townhome complexes in Maple
Grove, Otsego, St. Michael, and Rogers. We will then view pre-cast building designs along
the 169 corridor and in the Anoka-Ramsey Industrial Park.
• Please arrive at City Hall at 8:30 a.m. We will provide breakfast prior to our departure. We
will also provide box lunches,as we anticipate the tour will take approximately 3-4 hours. If
you have questions or are unable to attend the tour,please let Debbie Huebner,Planning
Administrative Assistant, know as soon as possible at 441-4921.

A) Go south on Hwy 101 to County 37; take right at 37 (Pulte Town Homes) •
• Two buildings of same design with different color treatment
B) From Hwy 101, go west on County 36;cross over I-94; about 1.5 miles on right is a
Hans Hagen Homes development "West Village"
• Very nice brick townhouses
C) Keep going west on County 36 to a Brightkeys development "Highwoods"
• Example of the same color, style, design of large town homes
D) Rogers - west of Super America about 1.5 miles
E) Go south on I-94; take right on County 30 (by Menards & Wal-mart)
• Out behind Wal-mart is a great deal of town homes to explore
F) Keep going south on I-94;take left on Weaver Lake Road and follow that all the way
to Hwy 169
• This stretch is full of pre-cast buildings and a very nice urban town home
development
G) Head north on Hwy 169 to Hwy 10
• "Pre-cast Row" -plenty of examples of good and not so good pre-cast buildings •
H) Head west on Hwy 10; take right at Thurston Ave ??? (Kmart on left)
• Ramsey Business park-plenty of examples of good and not so good pre-cast
buildings
I) Continue west on Hwy 10; go north on Hwy 169;right at Main St to Troot Brook
Farms
