Dear Mayor Klinzig:
As you know,the City of Elk River is currently experiencing some of the most exciting development
and growth opportunities in recent history. Unfortunately,with the recent addition to my family and
my position as the Brooklyn Park City Engineer, I have found it increasingly difficult to fulfill my
duties as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Elk River. While I truly enjoy my position on the
Commission, I cannot continue to serve and still meet the obligations firstly to my family and
secondly to my employer. I,therefore,am tendering my resignation from the Planning Commission
effective September 30, 1999.
• I am aware that there were three applicants for the current vacancy on the Commission. It is my
hope that one of these applicants would be suited to fill the vacancy created by my resignation.
It has been a pleasure serving on the Planning Commission for the past nearly three years. If you
have any questions or require any additional information, please feel free to call me at 493-8101.

The National 2000 APA Conference has been scheduled for April 15-19, 2000 in New
York City (attached). The 2000 Planning Commission budget has adequate funds to
send two commissioners to this conference next year. Please review your calendars
and let us know if you are interested in attending this conference. As information
becomes available, we will forward it to the commission.
