02-08-1980 CC MIN - SPECIAL SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ELK RIVER HELD IN THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL February 8, 1980 Members Present: Mayor Madsen, Counci1members Otto, Engstrom and Duitsman. Members Absent: Councilman Toth 1. Mayor Madsen called the special meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. 2. Purchase of the Police Squad Car Councilman Otto expressed concern over the problem of getting maintenance service when needed on the police car if it was purchased from Bloomington Chrysler Ply- mouth rather than a local dealer. The City Administrator indicated that warranty work was typically done by the nearest dealer and that all dealers were paid by the manufacturer so, therefore, should not be a problem. The City Administrator further indicated that according to specifications Bloomington Chrysler Plymouth was ultimately responsible for the warranty work and was required to provide pickup and delivery service. Mayor Madsen indicated he did not have a problem with the servicing of the car and felt it was unfortunate that none of the local dealers were low bidders. Councilman Otto asked if there was a difference between the Ma1ibu and Vo1are. The City Administrator indicated the Ma1ibu and Vo1are were both considered mid-sized cars. Mayor Madsen .indicated that he felt the City should get the 318 cubic inch V8 engine rather than the 360 cubic inch. COUNCILMAN DUITSMAN MOVED TO PURCHASE THE VOLARE WITH THE 318 CUBIC INCH ENGINE FROM BLOOMINGTON CHRYSLER PLYMOUTH FOR $6,326.00 UNLESS THE PURCHASE PRICE FROM THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER WOULD BE THE SAME AS THE PRICE THROUGH HENNEPIN COUNTY PURCHASING FROM BLOOMINGTON CHRYSLER.
