Meeting Date Prepared by Mai- 22, 2018 + Tim Sevcik, Interim Public Works Reviewed by Background/Discussion The Eagle Scout project for the central rain garden is scheduled for May 19, 2018 at 2:30. Johnny Helm, the Eagle Scout Candidate has coordinated for the purchase of the plant materials as well as volunteers to conduct the planting. Staff is working with a vendor for the parking lot and grounds lighting updates and anticipates getting a price quote in the next couple of weeks. This project will consist of removing the light ballasts around the sidewalk areas, installing an additional light pole and lights on the exterior of the building, and updating all exterior lights to LED. Staff anticipates quotes to come within budget and work to be completed this summer. Following the March 27 Library Board Meeting, a member of the board asked about the feasibility of installing a pedestrian curb cut in the drop off area near the flagpole. After review of the site, staff determined that adding a pedestrian curb cut in this location would not be feasible. Several utilities pass underneath this location including electrical and irrigation which would require relocation of these utilities. Additionally, the drop off area consists of a 14 foot drive lane; minimum requirements for an ADA accessible loading and unloading area are 8 feet for the vehicle and 8 feet for the parking space access aisle. This would require us to expand the drive lane by either removing a portion of the curb and sidewalk in front of the building or reducing the center circle by a two foot radius. Reconfiguring the curbing and drive lane would result in a sidewalk surface which would not be ADA compliant and reducing the center circle would result in too tight of a turn radius for vehicles around the circle. Currently there are several curb cuts around the building which provide ADA accessible access and routes to the building and drop box locations. Financial Impact None Attachments None NATUREI
