Action Requested
Adopt, by motion, a resolution acknowledging and approving the application from the Zimmerman Fire
Relief Association to conduct off-site gambling at the Sherburne County Fair July 19 – 22, 2018.
Background/Discussion
The Zimmerman Fire Relief Association would like to conduct off-site gambling during the Sherburne
County Fair, July 19 - 22, 2018. The Zimmerman Fire Relief Association holds a premises permit to allow
gambling at the American Legion.
The Gambling Control Board requires the City Council adopt a resolution approving the Application for
Off-site Gambling because the gambling will not take place at the location of the premises permit.

A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Acknowledging and
Approving Application to Conduct Annual Off-Site Gambling for
Zimmerman Fire Relief Association
WHEREAS, the Zimmerman Fire Relief Association has made application to the State
Gambling Control Board to conduct off-site gambling; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota’s Lawful Gambling regulations require applicants to obtain
acknowledgment and approval by resolution from the city in which gambling events are
being held; and
WHEREAS, approval of the application would allow the Zimmerman Fire Relief
Association to conduct gambling at the Sherburne County Fair July 19 – 22, 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River, Minnesota, as follows: the City Council hereby acknowledges and approves the
application by the Zimmerman Fire Relief Association to conduct off-site gambling.
