Athletic Field Update
The OKAC lighting project on Field 4 was completed in early June and the new scoreboard was
installed. Both turf fields now are equipped with lights and scoreboards. Staff will be installing football
goalposts in July to complete work on this complex for the summer. Overall improvements to OKAC
in 2017 and 2018 include installation of two new scoreboards on Fields 3 and 4,installation of lights on
Field 4,new dugouts on Fields 1 and 2,reconstruction of the pitching mound on Field 1,and reshaping
of the infields on Fields 1 and 2.
The new scoreboards were installed by the vendor on DAAC Fields 1-4 last week. Electrical work to
connect the scoreboards will be completed in the next two weeks. These scoreboards are multipurpose
Daktronics scoreboards that will serve both baseball/softball and youth football on the fields. These
scoreboards are the same model installed on YAC Fields 1-6 in 2017.
Installation of the light poles for the Lions John Weicht Park basketball courts was completed in May.
ERMU installed the poles, fixtures, and conduit for the project for the cost of materials.
Staff met with the irrigation and well contractors at DAAC last week to conduct project coordination
for the irrigation installation project. Work is anticipated to be complete in early July on all fields to
include tying together both the Kuss and DAAC wells to provide sufficient water volume for the
system.
The city partnership with ERMU continues to be mutually beneficial and their work to assist the Parks
Maintenance Division meet its goals is much appreciated. ERMU has helped the Parks and Recreation
Division by conducting installation of conduit for 8 scoreboards, the Lions Park Basketball lights, the
Barrington Park playground light, the dog park light, and upgrading the Woodland Trails Regional Park
and lions Park Center parking lot lights to LED.
