DISCUSSION:
• Delivered eleven new water meters.
• Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from nine water services.
• Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples
o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria.
o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH
• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples
o All samples met MDH standards.
o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report
• The water operators continue to validate the water system map, and are working with our
mapping technician to make necessary updates to the mapbook.
• The directional drilling of the water main under Lake Orono has been completed. It took
the contractor seven different tries to complete the drilling due to obstructions in the lake
bed. The pressure testing and bacteria testing still needs to be completed before the new
water main can be put into service.
• The water department replaced the hydrant at the end of 190th circle. Completing work of
this nature saves the department roughly$5,000 by utilizing our water operators and not
hiring a contractor.
• We completed the annual leak detection survey. The report showed 23 suspected leaks in
the distribution system. The water operators will work to fix the leaks over the next
month. On July 2,the department excavated a suspected leak and discovered that the leak
was on a customer's service. We worked with the homeowner and a local contractor to
replace the existing lead line to the customers meter with a high density polyethylene
(HDPE) line.
• As the Chair of The Minnesota Section of the American Water Works Association we
have been working on reorganizing the district in order to spur membership and
volunteerism.
