SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• In June, the locating department had a total of 623 locate tickets consisting of six
emergency tickets, 21 cancellations, 6 meetings, 509 normal tickets and 73 updated
tickets. This is a 13%decrease in volume of tickets from the previous month.
• Electric Technicians continue with updating power bill, substation checks, disconnects,
reconnects, dealing with meter and off-peak issues, as well as installing new meters for
commercial customers. Also, staff has completed updating demand meters within Cycle
#2 to the appropriate reset date. This is being done to more accurately reflect the actual
billing period.
• On June 11, a squirrel climbed into the North Substation and caused a fault that opened
the high-side circuit breaker, resulting in an outage to 1423 customers. Staff took an oil
sample from the power transformer for a rush dissolved gas analysis to make sure that the
transformer did not sustain any internal damage from the fault. Staff is also working on
sealing up gaps in the fencing around the entrance to prevent further wildlife intrusion.
• The weekly meter reads continue to go well. The motherboard on one of the meter
reading computers had to be replaced under warranty. There was no interruption in meter
reading thanks to the backup computer. Staff continues to perform meter audits around
the system as time allows.
• On June 28, staff ran Engines 1, 2 & 3. Engine #4 has not been repaired yet. We are still
waiting to hear back from a vendor on the replacement locknuts. The engine has been
rotated without starting to prevent any further problems from sitting.
• Mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our
systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. The ArcGIS Server has been
configured and is up and running. Our GIS/Mapping Technician will be attending the
ESRI User Conference the 2nd week of July.
