Accept the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association Award of Excellence for the William H. Houlton
Conservation Area.
Background/Discussion
A member of the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) Awards Committee will present
to City Council the annual MRPA Award of Excellence for the William H. Houlton Conservation Area.
The award is given to an organization that has completed a project that exemplifies the highest level of
excellence in Parks and Recreation.
The MPRA Awards of Excellence program grants awards in seven categories including park and facility,
programming and events, sustainability, communications,volunteer initiatives, administrative or
management strategies, and sponsorships and partnerships. The W. H. Houlton Conservation Area
project is receiving an award in the Sponsorship and Partnership category in that this project
demonstrated how partnerships can provide funding to preserve conservation lands for the recreational
enjoyment of the community.
