05-08-1990 ERMU MIN UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
May 8, 1990
Tuesday 7: 00 P.M.
Present Were: George Zabee President
Jim Simpson Vice Chairman
James Tralle Trustee
Bill Birrenkott General Manager
Others Present: Glenn Sundeen Line Superintendent
Ray Menard Minnesota Conway
1) The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by President
Zabee.
2) Motion by Mr . Tralle, seconded by Mr . Simpson to approve the
agenda. Motion carried.
3) Motion by Mr . Simpson, seconded by Mr . Tralle to approve the
minutes of the previous meeting as presented and
distributed . The motion carried .
4) Ray Menard, of Minnesota Conway, presented a plan of action
for the marketing of Home Security systems and the staff,
and monetary requirements. The Commissioners directed the
staff, in conjunction with Ray to proceed with the
advertising campaign.
5) Motion by Mr . Simpson, seconded by Mr. Tralle to make the
following adjustments in the employment agreement effective
June 1, 1990. Wages for all outside workers to be changed
to the following schedule:
Power Plant Foreman $ 15.84
Plant Operator/Groundman 14 .86
Water Serviceman/Groundman 14. 48
Lead Lineman 19 .03
Lineman 18 .12
6) The Line Superintendent reviewed the status of construction
and operations with the Commissioners .
7) The General Manager reviewed the April financial statements
with the Commissioners .
8) The General Manager reported that the American Public Power
Association has selected the Elk River Utilities "Power
Manager" software to become their nationwide model and it
will be marketed that way.
9) Motion by Mr . Zabee, seconded by Mr, Tralle to recognize
Bill Birrenkott for his selection as the National Chairman
of the "Power Manager Users Group" . Motion carried .

10) The General Manager presented some rate concerns and
alternatives to the Commissioners . The Commissioners
directed staff to be prepared at the next meeting to make a
recommendation for a rate restructuring .
11) The next meeting was set for Tuesday, June 5, 1990 at
7 : 00 P.M.
10) Motion by Mr . Simpson, seconded by Mr . Tralle to adjourn.
Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10: 00 P.M.
