The ArcGIS Server has been configured and is up and running. Our GIS/Mapping Technician was very appreciative for the opportunity to attend the ESRI User Conference the week of July 9th. Attached is the report from the conference. Also, Staff recently completed the integration of the water mapping database with the new mapping server. This allows for us to easily GPS water items with our recent purchase of GPS equipment. This will also streamline the creation of maps and the sharing of information among internal ERMU online map viewers/users. Technology in mapping is always changing and updating to fit the needs&wants of users. Mapping knows no bounds. It is used in government, utilities, conservation, commercial business, etc. The expo area section was about two football fields in size with ESRI or ESRI partnered companies displaying visual or hands-on examples of their products. Through the week, classes/presentations took place all day and ranged from thousands or just a couple dozen attendees, depending on the topic. In my time at the conference, I wanted to get an array of information so that I could build onto what we are working on currently/near future. I also wanted to see what is up and coming for the industry. It was all beneficial. From ArcGIS Enterprise tips and tricks to Insights &Survey123 creation, in classes, there was always something that was learned or gave me a better grasp of how to navigate getting the many extensions of ArcGIS initiated. Since the conference, I have created a template in Survey123 for Storm/Damage Reports, and I hope to get that brought to our Enterprise in the near future. Another class that I was glad to attend was one on Story Maps. It is a mapping presentation extension that allows a user to tie maps to a visual presentation; a mapping PowerPoint, if you will. It allows a little interaction with map data and presents it with the help of several template styles. This will be a nice tool for meetings or sending information to those who need locational or asset feature information. There were many opportunities to network with other mapping professionals &to hear advice or examples from their experience, which is very helpful. There are many ways to work on mapping and everyone has a different set-up. By having some in-person resources, it opens the doors to know what not to do, or just ponder if something would be a good idea to utilize in our mapping practices. I also took time to converse with ESRI about our new Enterprise integration hiccups. They mentioned the use of"Data Store"to try to get around our multiple database snafus. This is currently being looked into by our ESRI sales rep. He contacted me this past week to follow up on the whole conference experience and get feedback. Overall, I found this conference to be extremely informative and eye-opening to see what to be on the lookout for in our future mapping. ESRI is good at giving insight into what is coming, so that users can try their best to navigate their mapping data uses in the same direction as the ensuing technology. This conference is not something that is needed annually, but every 3-5 years I believe we would benefit from attending. This type of timeline would allow us the chance to identify mapping changes/updates or getting user insights to stay fresh and on track with our endeavors. 174 Story Map Example: Storyutap fest i}' ,..., .a p y a eSti . .,, q, .a s.
