Background/Discussion The Beautification Committee was established in March of 2017. From May through October, two winners are be chosen each month and all winners will be recognized at the November City Council meeting. Business owners receive public recognition and an award for making the City of Elk River beautiful! At their August 13, meeting, the Beautification Committee reviewed two applications and recommends approval to the following business in category two:  Granite Shores for consistently maintaining their property in an attractive and well-kept manner. Call Meeting to Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee was called to order at 10:18 a.m. 2. Consider Agenda Motion by Hardin and seconded by McCormick to approve the agenda. Motion carried 3-0. 3.0 Consent Agenda Motion by McCormick and seconded by Hardin to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried 3-0. 4.1 Discuss Beautification Policy Ms. Eddy reviewed the policy. Members of the committee discussed potential revisions which would be implemented in 2019. Some of the changes discussed was awarding only one winner, consolidating the categories from two to one and awarding a winner in October of each year. 5.1 Announcements Next meeting is August 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. 6. Background/Discussion The City Beautification Committee serves to recognize business owners, who have made an effort to clean, repair, improve, and enhance the overall aesthetics of their property to maintain the beauty of their neighborhood. This committee encourages community improvements which enhance our city’s visual image and economic vitality. Two applications for category two were received this month: Morrell Trucking/Morrell Oversize and Granite Shores have been nominated to receive the following award:  The business has consistently maintained their property in an attractive and well-kept manner. Financial Impact None Attachments  City Beautification Award Applications  Judging Rubric Judging Rubric Award recognizes commercial properties that contribute to the beautification of the city through landscaping and architecture Judging is limited to the property visible from the public right of way 1. The first category is for businesses that have made substantial improvements to the exterior of their buildings and/or landscape in the last year. 2.
