SUBJECT: Authorize to Contract for Purchase and Installation of
Playground Equipment at Kleiver Point Park
Background:
The 2005 parks capital improvement budget included $60,000 for purchase and installation
of a playground at Kleiver Point Park. This sum includes concrete edging and safety
surfacing. Requests for proposals were sent to four park equipment companies. Based on the
square footage available at the park site a "not to exceed" amount of $45,000 was specified.
Proposals were to be "turn key" with installation of equipment and safety surface by the
contractor. The concrete edging was included in the bid package for the King Avenue
parking lot.
Summary:
Four ro osals were received. The are as follows:
PLAYGROUND PROPOSALS

Webber Recreational Inc. $44,027
Clearwater Recreation $45,000
Earl F. Anderson $45,000
Recommendation:
Staff and Park Commission members have reviewed the proposals, and believe that the
proposal from MN /WI Playground provides the most play features at the best price.
Action Requested:
Authorize staff to contract for purchase and installation of playground equipment from
MN/WI Playground Golden Valley MN, 55427 for a total of $42,640.
