DISCUSSION:
• In the last month, the level two charger downtown had 4 sessions, and provided
customers with 48 kWh of green energy. The new charger in the ERMU/City Hall
parking lot had 4 sessions and provided customers with 91 kWh of green energy. The DC
fast charger at the Coborn's fuel station has had 6 sessions and provided 127 kWh of
green energy to customers.
• Staff has been working extensively with customers that will be transitioning from
Connexus to ERMU this month. There is great concern by some customers on the load
management transition.
• Customers participating in the green pricing program that ERMU has offered for years
received information on the Clean Energy Choice program offered by Minnesota
Municipal Power Agency (MMPA.) The response to the new program has been positive
and many customers have increased their participation rate as part of the transition. All of
ERMU's residential electric customers will receive information on the Clean Energy
Choice program with their October billing statement. A copy of the informational flyer
and application is attached.
• Energy City has been working on a Memorandum addressing the discontinuation of the
Great River Energy waste-to-energy facility located in Elk River.
• ERMU is again sponsoring an event for National Drive Electric Week. The Chevy Bolt
and Mitsubishi Outlander will be on display at the Farmers Market September 13 from 3
to 7 p.m. Staff will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about electric
vehicles.
• Presented with ZEF Energy at the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA)
Summer Conference. The session was well attended and there were very good questions
asked during the presentation. The session was received well and many attendees thought
it was very informative.
• Supported Elk River EDA by presenting at the Minnesota Real Estate Journals Energy
Summit education seminar. Staff presented on energy efficiency programs in Elk River
and promoted the many benefits of our community.

How much does Clean Energy Choice cost?
Clean Energy Choice is an affordable, low-cost way for residential electric customers to support renewable energy.
For an additional $3 a month, 100% of your electricity can be sourced from renewable energy.Alternatively,for$1
a month, 50% of your electricity can be sourced from renewable energy, or for$2 a month, 75% of your electricity
can be sourced from renewable energy.
What Is Renewable Energy?
Renewable energy is generated from resources powered by wind, solar, bioenergy, water, and more.
Where Does the Renewable Energy from Clean Energy Choice Come from?
The renewable energy for the Clean Energy Choice comes from the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency's
renewable resources. MMPA also purchases renewable energy from other utilities. For more information on MMPA's

Am I Committing to a Certain Contract Term by Subscribing to the Clean Energy Choice Program?
No -the subscription is a surcharge on your electric bill in monthly increments -there is no minimum term
commitment for Clean Energy Choice.You can choose to unsubscribe at any time.
What Are Renewable Energy Certificates(RECs)?
Every kilowatt-hour of renewable energy created is assigned a unique renewable energy certificate (REC) number
to ensure that each unit of renewable energy is accurately tracked and only counted once. RECs are also known
as "green certificates"or "renewable energy credits". The State of Minnesota uses RECs to track renewable energy
generation and use.
How are RECs verified?
An independent third party selected by the State of Minnesota tracks the creation and retirement(permanently
set aside)of RECs. Generation is metered to ensure the correct number of RECs are allocated to each renewable
generation facility.
How Do I Support Renewable Energy by Participating in the Clean Energy Choice program?
RECs are retired for each Clean Energy Choice program participant.These RECs are over and above the amount
retired to meet Minnesota's renewable energy standard, which is currently at 17% of all electricity sales.
Is Renewable Energy Provided Directly to My Home or Rental Unit?
It is impossible to know where the electricity supplying your home or rental unit originated from. RECs provided
as part of the Clean Energy Choice program guarantee that your additional renewable purchases are certified
renewable energy in Minnesota.
What if I'm a Renter?
An advantage of the Clean Energy Choice program is that it provides choice in your source of electricity, no matter
whether you own your home or rent.
