DISCUSSION:
• The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency(MMPA)met on
September 25, 2018 at the offices of Shakopee Public Utilities. Commissioner Al Nadeau
and I were both in attendance.
The Board was informed that a tornado caused some damage at Faribault Energy Park.
The extent of the damage is currently being assessed and MMPA is working with its
insurance carrier to document the damage and repair the facility.
The Hometown Solar project at Clover Ridge Elementary School in Chaska has been
commissioned.
Customer penetration of MMPA's Clean Energy Choice program increased to 3.0%of all
residential customers. Since the beginning of 2018,the number of program participants
has increased by 21%.
• On September 26, I held a quarterly meeting with Greg Ridderbusch the President&
Chief Executive Officer for Connexus Energy. We had discussed Great River Energy
(GRE),the Conservation Improvement Program(CIP), service territory, our state
associations, legislative advocacy, new technologies, and industry trends. As always, our
quarterly meetings produce great discussion and bring to light opportunities.
• On October 1, I met with Jack Kegel, Executive Director for the Minnesota Municipal
Utilities Association(MMUA). We discussed the MMUA safety program, CIP, and
upcoming legislative advocacy. Although I have rolled off the MMUA board, I am
currently still the chair of the MMUA government relations committee.
