Action Requested
Accept, by motion, two outlots within the Miske Meadows subdivision for use as stormwater ponds.
Background/Discussion
The Miske Meadows subdivision includes a number of outlots set aside for use as stormwater ponds. The
public infrastructure for these facilities is complete and the ponds have been constructed to the city’s
satisfaction. The ponds will be maintained by the city and access is provided via easements or parcel
connections to the street.
In the past, the city has not taken ownership of outlots dedicated to stormwater management, but we
have seen many of these go tax forfeit and then are picked up by the city or remain in a state of forfeiture.
Accepting ownership of the lots allows the city to more easily regulate encroachments into the required
setbacks, and eliminates the possibility of tax forfeiture in the future.
Financial Impact
The stormwater features will be maintained by the city in perpetuity in accordance with state municipal
separate stormwater system requirements.
