Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Mark Lemen, Jr. as Street Maintenance Operator II.
Background/Discussion
Following the resignation of Street Maintenance Operator II Kevin Anderson, we went to market to fill
the vacancy. We received 32 applications and interviewed 8 candidates.
Following background, reference, and required pre-employment testing, staff recommends Mark Lemen
for this position.
Mr. Lemen currently works for the City of Buffalo as a Wastewater/Water Operator. He has previously
worked for the City of Mound and the City of Orono, as well as the City of Sharonville in Ohio. At the
City of Sharonville, Mr. Lemon was Senior Operator for street, building, parks, and grounds maintenance.
Mr. Lemen holds a Class A Commercial Driver’s License and has education in Environmental Studies
from Bemidji State University and Southern New Hampshire University.
This position is part of the IUOE Local 49 union and pay and benefits will follow union contract and city
policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
