1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Heritage Preservation
Commission was called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Chair Fox.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
3. Consider July 19, 2018, Agenda
Moved by Commissioner Fox and seconded by Chair Mortensen to approve
the July 19, 2018, agenda.
Motion carried 2-0.
4. Minutes of April 26, 2018, meeting
Moved by Commissioner Fox and seconded by Chair Mortenson to approve
the April 26, 2018, HPC meeting minutes.
Motion carried 2-0.
5.1 MN Heritage Preservation Conference
Mr. Carlton stated the 2018 State Preservation Conference would be held September
12 – 14, 2018, in Winona. He explained that at least one member of the HPC must
attend the conference and asked for volunteers. Chair Mortensen volunteered and
Commissioner Fox stated he would be interested if funding and timing worked.
Mr. Carlton stated he would register Chair Mortensen and notify Commissioner Fox
if there was enough money available for a second person to attend.

5.2 Jackson Street Water Tower
Mr. Carlton stated that the city did not receive a grant to fund the
painting/restoration of the Jackson Street Water Tower in 2018 as the grant funding
the architectural plans was still open. The city is eligible to re-apply in 2019, and staff
will work to position the city well for the 2019 grant opportunity.
6. Adjournment
There being no further business, Chair Mortensen adjourned the meeting of the Elk
River Heritage Preservation Commission at 6:21 p.m.
