VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
November 5, 1962
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Nov 5, 1962.
All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved.
A building permit was issued to Milfred Lindenfelser for an addition to his building on Main St. Mr.
Joe Bailey tendered his resignation as member of the Power and Light Commission. The clerk was
asked to write him a letter complimenting him on his good services on the commission.
Earl Holen was present at the meeting. He complained that a sewer manhole on Main Street near his
property is too high. He is to see engineer Mills about it.
The council agreed to transfer funds from the Sewer Fund to the Sewer Improvement Fund if
necessary.
A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Briggs to have a vote at the next Village Election
whether to raise the salaries of the mayor and trustees each $100.00 per year. Making Trustee salaries
250.00 per year and the mayor 310.00 per year. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 63 attached.
A letter was received from the Board of Education asking that a signal be placed at the school
crossing over the track on Proctor Ave.
A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Laron to investigate the matter of signals as to the
cost and how it can be paid for. Carried.
The Clerk was asked to write the Railroad and Warehouse Commission for information and
suggestions.
A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to have three members on the Village
Election Board on Dec 4. Motion carried.

ORDINANCE NO. 63
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 52 ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE
FIXING THE SALARY OF THE }'iAYOR AND TRUSTEES".
The Council of the Village of Elk River, Minnesota, do ordain as follows:
Section One (1). Section One (1) of Ordinance No. 52 dated November 7,
1955, and entitled: "An Ordinance Fixing the Salaries of the Mayor and
Trustees" is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section One (1). Mayor's Salary. The salary of the mayor of the
Village of Elk River shall be Three Hundred Ten Dollars per year
payable in equal monthly instalments.
Section Two (2). Section Two (2) of said Ordinance No. 52 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section Two (2). Trustee's Salary. The salary of each trustee of
the Village of Elk River shall be Two Hundred Fifty Dol]ars per year
payable in equally monthly instalments; provided, however, that
nothing herein contained shall operate to change, alter or modify
the salary of the Village Clerk heretofore set and established by
appropriate action of this council.
.Section Three (3). Effective Date. This ordinance, if approved, shall
become effective Januar,y 2, 1963.
