VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 5, 1965
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Apr 5, 1965. All
present except Norris who was absent. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The
minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The clerk read a letter from Curtis Briggs asking for a chance to purchase the island in the lake
known as Scout Island. The council says the island is used by the Boy Scouts and would not like to
refuse the use of the island to the Scouts.
Motion by Bartelt and second by Hudson to go ahead with the sewer extension on Upland Ave.
Carried.
L.G. Lamm and several others met with the council asking about the rezoning on Mr. Lamm’s
property. The council is waiting to hear further from the Planning Commission. However, the
council agreed to act on Lamm’s petition at least by the next meeting.
A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to give permit to N.W. Bell Telephone Co
to lay a telephone cable in the village from School St North on Jackson Ave. to the village line.
Motion carried.
Building permits were approved to Dr. Travis, Alfred Leistico, Houlton Ins. Co, and Elk River
Lumber Co.
