SUBJECT: Authorization to Hire Paid On-Call Firefighter
As you are aware, the Elk River Fire Department recendy had one of its members, Tim Richie,
resign due to personal reasons. The Fire Department completed the process of hiring three paid on-
call firefighters in February. The Fire Department advertised, screened, and interviewed potential
candidates for the position of paid on-call firefighter for the Elk River Fire Department. I am
requesting Council approval to hire one of the applicants from the previous hiring process, Tristan
Nicka.
Tristan Nicka has successfully completed his firefighter physical, stress check, and background check
and with the approval of the City Council, Tristan shall start with the Elk River Fire Department on
May 17, 2005.
Tristan Nicka will be added to Fire Station 2. If you have any questions prior to the meeting, please
feel free to call me at the Elk River Fire Department at 763-635-1105.
Action Requested
Council approval to hire Tristan Nicka as paid on-call firefighter beginning May 17,2005.
