Park Wayfinding Signage
City staff is working with the cities vendor, Graphic House, to finalize the designs and installation for
the new park wayfinding signs. For 2018 three of the monument signs will be installed at Orono Park,
the Youth Athletic Complex, and Hillside City Park. In addition, 14 of the neighborhood parks will
receive new signage in 2018 as part of the wayfinding program. Park Maintenance staff has removed the
existing signs over the past couple of weeks and have prepared the sites for the vendor to install the new
signs. It is anticipated that all of the signs for 2018 will be installed by late November with some
remaining work to be conducted in 2019.
Athletic Field Maintenance
Park Maintenance staff completed fall maintenance on the athletic fields including topdressing of the
football/lacrosse fields at YAC and OKAC and the four softball fields at DAAC. Additional work will
likely be needed to restore the turf at DAAC in the spring as a full summer without irrigation has taken
its toll on the existing turf. Staff anticipates these fields will need a heavy treatment of crabgrass
preventer in the spring followed by multiple fertilizer and seeding treatments throughout the course of
the summer. It will likely take the majority of 2019 to re-establish quality turf on these fields.
