Mayor Dietz to administer the Oath of Office to Fire Chief Mark Dickinson.
Background/Discussion
Mark Dickinson began as the city’s new fire chief November 26, 2018.
The Mayor is asked to administer the Oath of Office to Chief Dickinson. Following the oath, Chief
Dickinson will have his badge pinned on his uniform.

OATH OF OFFICE
I, Mark Dickinson, do solemnly swear that I will protect, safeguard and preserve life, health and
property against fire and other perils, natural and man-made;
I will uphold the standards of my profession, continually striving to achieve the objectives and ideals
the service instills;
I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith and trust, and I will remain true to the
ethics and values of the fire service;
I will at all times, respect the property and rights of all;
I will discharge faithfully the duties of Chief for the Elk River Fire Department in the City of Elk
River, Minnesota, according to law and to the best of my judgment and ability, so help me God.
