12-17-1969 VCMThe regular semi=monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Minn., was called to order by Mayor Dartelt on Dec. 17, 1969, in the Council Roos of the Municipal Building at 7:30 pm, all members were present as follows: Mayor Bartelt, Councilmen Hudson, Syring, McRae and Konop. The minutes of the Dec. 1, 1969 regular meeting and Dec. 2, 1969 meeting with the Utilities Commission"were read. No Additions or Correctiors. Len Madsen was iiesent in regards to operation of snow mobiles in the village and discussion followed on apparent violations. The present ordinance will be republished in this weeks paper and more stringent"enforcement will be taken. Earl Moos reported on heating the area above the liquor store. His quotation last September for 3 furnaces installed has been reduced $50.00 to $4,690.14 account of error`in figures. The placing of 3 furnaces was recommended by Mr. Mees. Moved by Councilman McRae and seconded by Councilman Hudson to purchase one gas-fired 225,"000 BTU -Furnace with a 2 ton cooling unit from Moos Plumbing and Hegting cost to be'$1,6^2.00. -Motion unaminou.sly carried. Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson to adjust the wages of the salaried employees to be eff active Jan. 1, 1970 as follows: Lester Derr $700.00 per month, Earl Hohlen $675.00 per month and Ronald DeRosier $600.00 per month. Motion unaminously carried. Ernie Thielke's salary win remain at $700.00 per month until he has completed his 6 months probationery period. Wages;, for the street employees will be"`revaluat6d at our next regular council meeting. Discussion en snow removal at night. Les Derr will check with Burgoyne to learn if feasible. Hohlen reported on complaints rece:kved on snow mobiles travelling down Main Street and also on the downtown parking problem whereas businessecd employees are moving their cars to conform with the 2 hour parking law. Regarding the complaint from Al Brown on no access to his jarage. Councilman Hudson reported that Les Derr can remedy the problem in the spring by scraping dirt and building a 5 to 1 grade. No further business, the meeting adjourned.
