03-02-1970 VCM The regular sem.-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Minn., was called to order by Mayor Bartelt on March 2, 1970 in the Council Room of ,the Municipal Building at 7:30 pm, mem!ters were present as follows: Ma;{or Bartelt, Councilmen Hudson, Syring and Konop' The minutes of the Feb. 16, 1970 and Feb. 25, 1970 meetings were read. No additions or corrections. n H.rry Dreissig was present in regards to renewal of the fire contracts with the neighboring townships. After discussion, moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson establishing fees_ as follows: Yearly retainer fee to be One-Half !K.ill on property valuation, subjec'b to pro-ration for townships that are not fully covered by fire contract, minimum retainer fee to be $100.00. Cost of fire runs to be as follows: $150.00 for the first hour, $60.00 for each additional half hour or fraction thereof, and $150.00 minimum call. Y.lOtion unaminously carried. The annual Financial Report of the Elk River Firemens Relief Association was pre- sented and report was reviewea. It was reported that a low rent housing complex in the village 'WOuld be assessed at one-half or 20% of normal vUuation. Moved kr Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson, authorizing the release of the easement with Fullerton Lumber Co., where the fire siren was formerly maintained 0 Motion unaminously carried. Moved by Counci.l.ma.n Syring and seconded by Councilman Konop, authorizing Les Derr to purchase a used acetylene cutting torch with necessary equipment, cost not to exceed $225.00. Motion unaminously carried. ' ~) / ( '-------~ Per recommendation from Police Chief Hohlen, moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson, to hire Kenneth Van Patton and Robert Powellas part time Police Officers. Richner, Van Patton and PONell to work a maximum of 20 hours per week except during emergency conditions. Motion unaminously-carried. Discus&ion on a village burglar alarm system. HoPlen will contact the businessmento learn who l'lOuld be interested and what each would be willing to pay for this service.
